During a recent interview with People TV the Hip-Hop mogul shared his opinion on the current state of female rap. He was asked who's his favorite up and coming female rapper at the moment , the host also asked more specifically what were his thoughts on Meg The Stallion and Cardi B and this was his response " I can't really say, the only reason why I can’t say is because I feel they’re all rapping about the same things. I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper. I think they’re trying to show , for me, it’s like strippers rapping. He went on to say “As far as rap goes, I’m not getting who is the best rapper, I’m getting like, ‘Ok, you got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story about you dancing in the club,’ it’s like okay, who’s going to be the rapper?” The hosts of the segment then asked what does he feel is missing from female rap Dupri stated “At some point, somebody’s going to have to break out of that mold and just show us, talk about other things, just rap about other things besides that,” Everyone is entitled to their opinions however it's very insulting and ignorant when people especially males in the industry make statements as such because there's so much unrecognized talent in the female rap game artists such as Kamaiyah (@Kamaiyah) ,Young MA , LadyLondon (@Ladyondonnn) , Rico Nasty, Oranicuhh (@Oranichuu) , Tierrawhack , Rapsody, etc. These women are often overlooked due to the fact their music actually has substance and they aren’t talking about their vaginas. What’s so weird about this industry is people will claim they want to see more females show versatility but in actuality they don’t because there’s many hidden gems that have bars, substance and versatility but sex sells in mainstream.

I also feel like there’s a double standard in the rap industry when it comes to males and females , how often do we hear male rappers that sound the same and damn near rap about the similar topics. Mr.Dupri should get more familiar with the ladies I mentioned they’re definitely trying breaking the mold and reshape the current female rap game.
