The first Hip-Hop billionaire has officially entered the cannabis business. He has teamed up with the California based cannabis company called Caliva they sell vapes, edibles, merchandise, lotions and oils. Jay-Z reached out to the company after doing some research to find a suitable business partner within the industry. CEO Dennis O'Malley said "For Jay-Z to seek out Caliva as a partner is humbling and confirms our mission of being the most trusted name in cannabis. To find that we were in complete alignment around our values and ethos was just a home run. We believe this partnership is unparalleled in this or any business and we could not be more pleased to be working with him and have him as our Chief Brand Strategist.”
He will serve as the chief brand strategist a major part of his role will focus on the social injustices issues concerning legalization. Another focal point will be working to improve the representation and participation of previously incarcerated people who are unfairly being kept out of the legal weed business.He will also help the company make creative decisions , outreach efforts and new strategies for marketing.
The rapper will join the main investor, former NFL star quarterback Joe Montana, to maximize the profitability and philanthropic potential of the weed business. "With all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva’s expertise and ethos make them the best partners for this endeavor. We want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way" Jay-Z said in a statement , he is the latest rapper to enter the legal cannabis industry amongst other rappers such as Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz , and Juicy J.
