Missy Elliott Will Be The First Female Rapper To Receive Honorary Doctorate From Berklee College Of

Although she hasn't had an album out since 2005 Missy Elliot is still managing to break barriers. She has a lot to look forward to in these upcoming months , in June she will be the first female hip hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame the annual ceremony will take place in NYC.

Before her induction she will receive an honorary doctorate from Berklee college of music , Yesterday it was announced VIA twitter by CBS' Alex Spearman shared a tweet that stated Missy would be receiving an honorary doctorate.

She retweeted the original tweet to express her gratitude and excitement her reply was "I am soooo humbled." The doctorate will serve as a recognition of her musical accomplishments and her global influence. She will be honored alongside Justin Timberlake and Grammy award winner Alex Lacamoire. The commencement ceremony will take place on May 11th at the Agganis Arena at Boston University.
