Why Do Some Black Women Not Consider Afro Latinas as "Real Black Women"

The term Afro-Latina means refers to Latin American people of significant African ancestry. Many entertainers, actresses and actors, and musicians identify as being Afro-Latina. You may be familiar with Celia Cruz, Left-Eye, and actress Zoe Saldana who all identify as Afro-Latina. Recently the Love & Hip Hop franchise expanded to Miami and the series premiered on New Years Day. The world was introduced to AmaraLaNegra an Afro-Latina singer who is of Dominican and African-American decent. She takes pride in her heritage and makes sure everyone knows it. However her debut caused some controversy with viewers and social media , specifically with some Black women and some Hispanic women.
The issue most black women were stating is they don't feel that she's "black enough" to identify with African American culture, or that she shouldn't wear certain hair styles or act a certain way because she's appropriating the culture. But that's an ignorant thing to say because she's black, also they feel Amara doesn't go through the trials and tribulations that most black women do when it comes to issues of race and skin tone. The issue most Hispanic women stated were they feel Amara isn't really of Spanish decent she just knows Spanish and is a black girl pretending or they don't fully accept her as a Latina because of her dark skin tone. Also, these are very ignorant claims to make.
I STRONGLY disagree with those views, just because you are afro-Latina doesn't make you more African American and less Hispanic or vice versa. You should never try to take from someone's experiences just because you feel they can't relate because of ignorant standards. Amara has received racism from both sides of her culture, and like many of us African American women judged for her hairstyle of choice and her skin complexion. If that isn't relatable I don't what is.
