Suicide within the youth community has been an issue since forever, usually most teen suicides are caused by bullying in some sort of way. However over the pass couple of months we've started to see more and more children under the age of 13 committing suicide which is extremely shocking and heartbreaking. Over the weekend in Newark, New Jersey an 8 year old named Imani McCray took her life after seeing a report online about another young girl in Colorado who also committed suicide. It is also most likely because of peer bullying.

Just last month a 10 year old girl named Ashawnty Davis from Colorado killed herself due to bullying at school which stemmed from a fight. Her peers recorded the fight and made videos to it through the Musically app.

Just a couple weeks after another girl named Rosalie Avila from California took her life due to bullying based on her appearance. Before Rosalie killed herself she would try to cope with her pain by cutting herself , her parents placed her in counseling but it wasn't successful. As if losing their 13 year old daughter wasn't enough the bullies from Rosalie's school began to harass her parents anonymously.

Statistics show between 1999-2015 more children in the united states between the ages 5-12 committed suicide due to bullying. That means one child under 13 died of suicide almost every five days, on average over that time span. These statistics jumped between 2013-2015 studies showed during these years.

Suicide is never the answer , especially for children it makes you wonder what could've been so bad for a young child to want their life to come to an end. There needs to be more of an effort put forth to end child suicide , in schools if a child reports bullying from their peers to their teachers it should be taken more seriously and parents on both ends need to be alert and aware of what's going on. Most times in these cases kids don't let their parents in on what's bothering them or what's going on at school, that's why it is important for them to know exactly what's happening so they can fix the situation.
