Truth Time: Cultural Appropriation Is Annoying AF

Over the weekend K.Michelle released a song off of her new album titled "Kim K" and it sparked small controversy. In the song K.Michelle calls the Kardashian family out for cultural appropriation the chorus says "Wish I could be a Kardashian so I could be Black. Put my face over Pac, wear my braids to the back." A lot jumped on social media and said K was being shady towards the family , however she wasn't being shady she was speaking facts. Michelle responded on twitter to let everyone know the true message behind the song is African American women are rarely credited for the trends and styles that we started, but when a woman of another decent copies our style it's praised. For years African American women have been told cornrows are unprofessional, long nails are ghetto , big lips were undesirable, having too much ass wasn't cute. So why is that when Caucasian women got into our trends it became desirable? How come when the Kardashians began wearing cornrows the name was changed to boxer braids? BTW What the fuck is a boxer braid it's cornrows or French braids! Also, I never understood why some black men say they don't want to date black women but will turn around a date women that went out and enhanced themselves to look like us that's an oxymoron.

In the entertainment world I could imagine it's worse for black women mainstream has been telling them for years they have to have a certain look. I believe that's why some black female entertainers have gone over the top with plastic surgery trying to alter their appearance to appease society. In the song Michelle also gives Blac Chyna a shout out and says she admires her hustle because she made a way for herself. But she also brought up another valid point , when Blac chyna did what she did it was considered ratchet , classless , tacky, etc. But when other Caucasian female celebrities gained more stardom in similar ways as Blac Chyna it's considered classic. Cultural appropriation is annoying for the simple fact we are told our cultural norms are not ideal and their ghetto, when other ethnicities get praised for adopting our culture. That's like someone steal an idea of yours and running with it as if they came up with it wouldn't you be annoyed? Please SHARE THOUGHTS BELOW...
