We all have had what if moments and ran various scenarios through our mind many times in life. Personally I always think out different what if scenarios regarding the entertainment industry. I always think how differently the culture would've been if Lauryn Hill continued making music and spreading positivity to the youth. Or If Aaliyah never died would Beyoncé be as major as she is today? If left eye never died would TLC still be together ? Or would she have been a major success as a solo artist? If Lauryn hill would've continued to make more music I think it would've been amazing for my generation and the generation after. We would've been receptive to her movement It would've changed the way females carry themselves and their thinking Lauryn was all for female empowerment , self worth, and going for what you want in life and not allowing anyone to deter you.
I always have this debate with my friends but if Aaliyah was still around I don't feel that Beyoncé would be as major as she is today. Don't get me wrong I believe she would've had a successful career with Destiny's child and solo. But Aaliyah was what Beyoncé is to us now during Aaliyah's time she was adored by everyone she had a huge fan base very much like the #BeyHive. Every girl wanted to dress like her and style their hair like hers with the infamous eye swoop . When she died she was on her way to the level of stardom that Beyoncé has gained today. She was accepting more acting roles for the movies Romeo must die, Queen of the damned 1&2 she had signed on to play Zee in the sequels of the matrix prior to her death. Just like Beyoncé , Aaliyah had the triple threat factor working for her (Dancer, singer, actress) and she had that natural beauty look.
If Left eye was still around TLC would've disbanded in the early 2000's , Left eye was well on her way to a solo career and I think she would've been very successful as a solo artist. After watching documentaries about Lisa's life and watching the TLC biopic she was the most influential and creative person in the group not to say the other members didn't contribute to the group. they're ideas weren't out of the box like Left-Eye's were. Also she added flare to most of their hits with her rap verses , how do you think waterfall would sound without her verse? Or any of their hits without her on it? She also started her own production company and signed the group Blaque another female trio who had a lot of left-eye flare to them. It was proven that Left-Eye was the IT factor of TLC because the remaining duo had mediocre success with the music that was released following Lisa's departure.
All three of these female artists were extremely influential to a lot of artist and to society , If they would've had more time they could've continued to make more of an impact on the music industry as well as the entertainment industry. Their music , style, attitudes could've help mold women and even men in today's society. Can't help but wonder if we would've had more of their influence in urban society would Brazilian butt lifts still be a trend? Would black men be more accepting of black queens , rather than dating a Caucasian girl that brought all of our physical features? How do you think society and the industry would've been.
